Making Changes - Taking Cosmetic Chances

To thine own self be true......

Who are we to judge what is true to others? However, it's difficult to look at some of the changes that many well known faces have made and not notice the awful truth - their looks have changed and in most cases not for the better. A little nip, tuck here and there, plumping of the lips, breast and butt implants are becoming more common. With many celebrities changing right before our eyes, some fans have fallen deeply in to the world of cosmetic/plastic surgery. Unfortuantely, even those with the financial means and access to the top plastic surgeons have had major fails that not only made their appearances noticeably strange/weird but have had disastrous results. To make matters worse, parents are aiding their young children to also have procedures due to peer pressure and to avoid bullying. Is it effective? Is it necessary?

In the end, it really is a personal decision.

Next up we're exploring the dangerous side of cosmetic surgery.

A Time To Talk and A Time To Take Action!

The Sandy Hook Elementary School killings has become another moment where I pause and ask God - WHY???!!!

However, in the meantime, it is time for we the people to have a serious talk.

Let's discuss mental health and the services that are available for people with mental illnesses and disorders. There is something unethical about allowing someone who is known to have violent behaviors to blend in with the population where at any point, something tragic can happen to someone.

Let's also discuss the issue with assault weapons.

Who should have them? What is the criteria? Why? etc. It just seems to me that too often we hear the common statement, this doesn't happen here or this is not supposed to happen here. Where is it supposed to happen?

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) told Fox News Sunday that he believed more guns are the answer to violence in schools.

"I wish to god she had had an M4 in her office," he said of Sandy Hook Elementary School principal Dawn Hochsprung, who was also killed in the shooting.

Really???!!! Is that the solution???!!!

As a mother, this hits close to home. I cannot imagine what the other parents and families are going through right now. I cannot imagine what the husbands and children are going through without their loved one returning to their homes. I feel such a sadness about it, yet my sorrow cannot be compared to their unbearable grief.

We really need to get serious about this issue. I do hope that parents who have children with mental illnesses/disorders who exhibit violent behaviors can recognize the danger that they may be facing and it's impact on society as a whole. There is a huge responsibility that comes with being a parent. Recognize your role, get support, find a group, organization or create one. Shake the stigma and deal with the situation at hand. Yes, there will be good days but please do not allow those days to keep you from actively seeking help. Speak up and speak out loudly - don't wait for another situation like the one we're facing to come forward only to slip helplessly back into your norm.

In the midst of this emotional period, let the lives of those who were so violently taken away be the prompt for us to make a change.

It's time to talk! It's time to take action...

Drug Deal Gone Bad

The death of Michael Jackson in 2009 was shocking. What was even more incredible, was that he was under the care of a private physician. Michael Jackson was preparing for his final concert tour to be held in London and hired Dr. Conrad Murray as his personal physician.

Dr. Conrad Murray a cardiologist had no business administering Propofol to Michael Jackson. It is unethical. As a doctor who takes the Hippocratic Oath - First Do No Harm, was probably overshadowed by First Get PAID Big Bucks. According to the opening statements by District D.A. David Walgren, Conrad Murray was paid the sum of $150,000 per month. Now, I want to be clear, there is nothing wrong about being a private physician. However, what's wrong is practicing medicine in an unethical manner. Dr. Murray thought that he could practice medicine by minimizing the dosage here and there while giving various drugs to Michael Jackson and at this point he knew that there was a drug dependence issue with Michael Jackson. Dr. Murray was no longer practicing medicine, he was in essence an in house, high paid drug dealer.

Dr. Murray's defense attorney, Ed Chernoff told jurors in his opening argument that Michael Jackson, of his own accord, swallowed several lorazepam pills on the morning of his death and that was enough to put people to sleep. This statement confirms that Dr. Murray was fully aware that his client was having difficulty with the various drugs administered to him. Dr. Murray lost his judgement and wanting to please his client, he knowingly gave Michael Jackson propofol while lorazepem was still active in his system. As all drugs have a warning to Keep Out Of The Reach Of Children, Dr. Murray was responsible for any drugs that were available to Michael Jackson, whenever Dr. Murray left the room, it was his duty to secure all drugs so that they were out of the reach of everyone.
